I BLOG FOR FUN...

Feel free to pin photo's from this blog...I'm not one of those blogger's that will flip out and go on a rant about you "stealing" my photo's because you liked it enough to share it, lol. I am not a "professional decorator, cook, gardener" or "professional" anything else....I BLOG FOR FUN. Nope....not one of the perfect blogger's here. My house is not perfect, and you will never be led to believe it is. I simply cannot offer you "how-to's", nor will I leave comment's on your blog offering decorating advice...sorry. If you are one of the "professional blogger's" as I refer to so many of them these days, I simply am not interested in your invite to your linky parties...with YOUR strict instructions to follow YOUR rules, lol, in order to increase YOUR traffic. If your not here for enjoyment, then this simply isn't the blog for you.

Good Ole Southern, rib sticking food

Yea, that's right, rib sticking food, only in my case, it sticks to my butt, thigh's, waist, even my toes!! I was talking to a childhood friend yesterday, and of coarse food/cooking came up, and well, this is what happened.
Dumplings, always from scratch when made in this kitchen. My CH friend shared her secret ingredient that she adds to hers, so of coarse I had to try it.

 They turned out wonderfully!!

Home grown green beans cooked down in a black skillet, then fried on down in a tad bit of oil, and bacon, and salt. Just doesn't get much better than this.

Of coarse you need cornbread with the dumplings and green beans. I always add a dash or so of sugar to my cornbread....just don't ask how much a dash is. Most days it all depends on the mood when I start "dashing", lol.

  4. Now this is really down home cooking! :) I need your recipe for dumplings...can't take them when they taste "doughy". Of course, cornbread goes with most everything! Living here in Texas, it's typical to make Mexican Cornbread with jalapenos, cheese, corn, etc.

I don't think any food tastes as good as what comes from a home garden!

  5. Now this is the way I love to cook! I didn't know how to do much of anything when The Man and I first got married, but I was a pretty quick learner.....self-taught. My mom was a terrible cook and never wanted to take the time to show me anything -- The Man thinks that was a lucky break! My grandmother was an excellent cook, and I did get some basics from her. I think I really got a love and joy of cooking good food from her and then from my mother-in-law. My grandmother always cook green beans that way and made such delicious cornbread! You're bringing back fond memories, Teresa!
